I read the article Yolanda recommended and thought about Kahn Academy... I stumbled on it sometime ago, while trying to find a simpler way to explain some financial concepts to students in my financial literacy and financial capability workshops, just recently I again saw the Academy referenced on Sixty Minutes. It was founded by a gentleman
Sal Kahn, with 3 MIT degrees and a Harvard degree – who started using YOUTUBE to assist
his niece, who was in another location, I think it was his niece, in her studies – he has now created a non-profit organization backed by Bill Gates and Google – and he wants to provide a "world class
education for anyone, anywhere for free." Students can use it, teachers can, parents can study up and be able to help their kids... its truly an amazing program, and its free. Of course, for those who benefit, donations are accepted for operational costs, as we all know, tutors cost a lot, and effective tutors are worth even more.
